Plant communities in arable fields of the Skierbieszow Landscape Park

Floristic research on segetal communities was carried out in 2000 on arable fields in the Skierbieszów Landscape Park and its protected zone. Three communities of segetal weeds in cereal crops, and two communities of segetal weeds in root crops were separated in the arable fields of the Skierbieszów Landscape Park. The community Vicietum tetraspermae typicum commonly occurred in cereal crops on brown soils developed from loess soils. The community Echinochloo-Setarietum, which belongs to root crops, was noted in the same habitat. The greatest richness of species was found in Consolido-Brometum and Lamio Veronicetum politae, with the average of 25 species in one record. Both communities were abundant in rare segetal species which are considered to be endangered in our country: Adonis aestivalis, Euphorbia exigua, Lathyrus tuberosus, Muscari comosum, Thlaspi perfoliatum, Veronica polita, Agrostemma githago.

Zastosowanie analizy geostatycznej i teorii fraktali w badaniach dynamiki wilgotnosci w profilu glebowym na polach uprawnych

W pracy dokonano oceny czasowo-przestrzennej zmienności wilgotności gleby na polu z roślinami i bez przy zastosowaniu analizy geostatystycznej oraz obliczone wymiary fraktalne. Wykazano, że rozkład wilgotności gleby w okresie wiosenno-letnim w profilu glebowym był zdeterminowany przez opady atmosferyczne i rośliny. Stwierdzono występowanie czasowej zależności wilgotności gleby w profilu glebowym, przy czym promień autokorelacji czasowej zwiększał się wraz z głębokością. Na poletkach z roślinami wymiary fraktalne wykazywały wyraźny spadek wartości wraz z głębokością, natomiast na poletku bez roślin niewiele się zmieniały w obrębie badanego profilu. Tym samym wskazywały, że czasowy rozkład wilgotności gleby w profilu glebowym na poletku bez roślin był bardziej losowy niż na poletkach z roślinami.

Wintering farmland bird assemblages in West Hungary

Farmland bird populations declining rapidly all over Europe. Most of the knowledge is, however, from the breeding season, and much less is known about the winter period, especially from Central and Eastern Europe. We censused wintering farmland bird assemblages in West Hungary, in 2011/2012. The censuses covered semi-natural and seeded grasslands, plough fields and wheat fields. The available winter seed food was estimated for each field from the top soil and from the vegetation. We recorded 25 species with 844 individuals on the fields. Semi-natural grasslands were the most important habitats for species richness of all, granivorous, and resident species, with seeded grasslands as the second best habitat. Abundance showed similar pattern, although with no significant effect for granivorous species and for short-range migrants. Seed mass was significantly different among the habitat types, higher on seeded grasslands and seminatural grasslands than on ploughed sites and winter wheat fields. Date had a significant effect on species richness and abundance with highest values in December. There was a positive significant correlation between bird species richness and seed mass only in December. Our results strengthen former findings that changes and drivers of wintering farmland bird populations may differ between Central and West Europe, and highlight the need for further, large scale studies to provide evidence base to guide agrienvironmental programs.

The paper presents a list of flora taxa of the cultivated fields of General D. Chłapowski Landscape Park as well as their general characterisation. The segetal flora of the researched area consists of 215 species. 22 of them are on the list of threatened segetal plants.
