The question on disposing of the growing heap of waste has been pending for years. Waste has been landfilled for many years. With time there have been attempts to sort and recycle waste, but they do not resolve the problem in Polish conditions. In most of the towns the dump sites are filled up and a long-term solution is sought. In Kraków it could the construction of the Thermal Waste Disposal Facility, i.e. a waste incineration plant. The pros and cons of such an approach have been discussed by the representatives if city authorities, high schools, the Polish Ecological Club and environmental practitioners.
