Sensitiveness to beauty of the world continues, and efforts to preserve it were also made in the past. The author presents old descriptions reflecting delight in artefacts of the nature. These include a description of the Wieliczka salt mine by Adam Schrötter (1564), information on mineral water sources in the Sudety Mts. (Kudowa, Zuszniki, Świeradów, Szczawno) (1777) by Johan Gotfried Morgenbesser, and an account on natural studies in Świętokrzyskie Góry Mts. and Cracow surroundings by Jan Dominik Piotr Jaśkiewicz (1797).
