Six larval species from Poland are described as new; live of them belong to the genus Podothrombium (frombidiidae): P. verae, P. dariae, P. tersonderi, P. kordulae and P. rigobertae, and one species L. xymenae belongs to the genus Lassenia (Tanaupodidae).

Three new mites: Hexathrombium mamerti (Eutrombidiidae) obtained from Megacephala humeralis (Coleoptera: Cicindelidae) from North Australia, Leptus rosellae (Erythraeidae) obtained from undetermined Acridiidae (Orthoptera) from Turkey and Trombella thelmae (Trombellidae) obtained from undetermined Gryllidae (Orthoptera) from Thailand, are described. Podoihrombium prod Haitlinger (Trombidiidae) is new for the fauna of Turkey.

A series of larvae of Podothrombium reared in laboratory culture was subject to morphometric analysis. Larvae were assigned to P. filipes (C. L. Koch, 1837) a species known hitherto only from postlarval instars. An array of anomalies in the chaetotaxy of various body regions was discovered. The results make it possible to re-consider the taxonomic suitability of some characters commonly used in diagnosing larvae of Podothrombium.
