Łódź, second biggest urban and industrial complex after Warsaw, is the largest textile manufacturing centre in Poland. Fast expansion of the city outpaced the development of municipal infrastructure. It is only recently that the basic municipal issues are being solved. The Major of Łódź talks in detail about the water supply to residents, emphasises its high quality and utilisation by the industry. Investments related to sewage treatment and air protection measures are discussed. The recreational potential of Łódź is also presented.
