Social and economic regions are very differenciated. The differences concern natural, economic and infrastructural factors, as well as the agrarian structure which is a product of farm ownership structure, area structure and the sphere of agricultural service. The research was aimed at establishing the rules of farm organization, production structure and conditions conducive to the development of large private farms connected with agricultural and food industry. The studies included private farms covering the area of at least 50 ha, where the scale and structure of agricultural production could serve as a basis for permanent commercial and production relations with the above mentioned industry. The research concerned the provinces of: Białystok, Łomża, Olsztyn and Suwałki. Its results are presented in the form of models for farm development in the social and economic conditions of north-east marcoregion.
