The research estimated the possibility of obtaining haploid plants in species: C. frutescens L., C. chinense Jacq. and C. baccatum L. var. pendulum by polyembryony and androgenesis. To determine the frequency of twin embryos 4000 seeds were tested for each genotype. Anthers were cultured according to Dumas de Vaulx et al. (1981) method for C. annuum L. For each genotype 500 anthers were cultured on the induction CP medium. The ploidy level of plants and callus tissue was evaluated using flow cytometry. The ployembryonal seeds were observed in all the tested species. The frequency of polyembryony ranged from 0.03% in C. chinense Jacq. to 0.33% in C. frutescens L. Haploid plants appeared in C. frutescens L. and C. baccatum L. var. pendulum. The effectiveness of androgenesis was 1.8% and embryos were observed only for C. frutescens L. Different tendency to haploid induction by the polyembryony and androgenesis was observed for all the tested species.
