Remarks on the brentid collection of the Warsaw Museum and Institute of Zoology (Coleoptera: Brentidae)

The Warsaw Museum and Institute of Zoology contains an important collection of Coleoptera Brentidae. This material includes many types of species described by Richard Kleine, one of the most famous brentid specialists, whose collection, before the second World War, was held in Stettin. In our study of the collection, we designated lectotypes for the following species: Baryrhynchus (Eupsalomimus) schroederi Kleine, 1914; Corporaalia baryrrhynchoides Kleine, 1921; Gyalostoma jucundum Kleine, 1914; Spatherhinus grandis Kleine, 1914; Eupsalithopsis spatherinoides Kleine, 1914; Amorphocephala intermedia Kleine, 1918; Cerobates (Cerobates) aequalis Kleine, 1922; Hypomiolispa bickhardti Kleine, 1918; Hypomiolispa dentigena Kleine, 1918; Hypomiolispa rugosa Kleine, 1918; Miolispa adversaria Kleine, 1922; Miolispa nigricollis Kleine, 1919; Paratrachelizus afflictus Kleine, 1922; Leptocymatium observans Kleine, 1941; Thaumastopsis separata Kleine, 1941; Heterothesis elegans Kleine, 1914.

Results of new investigations of the weevil fauna of the Polish Tatra Mountains are presented. Fifteen weevil species (Brentidae 4, Curculionidae 11) have been recorded for the first time from this territory. After verification of all fauna records concerning Tatra's Curculionoidea, it is proposed that 57 weevil species (Brentidae 1, Attelabidae 1, Curculionidae 55) should be excluded from the fauna lists of the Polish Tatra Mts. However, 18 other weevil species (Brentidae 6, Curculionidae 12) should be included in these lists. Weevil fauna of the Polish Tatra Mts. includes counts 198 species (Nemonychidae 1, Brentidae 38, Attelabidae 1, Curculionidae 158).

Fourteen weevil species (Brentidae – 4, Curculionidae – 10) have been recorded from the Polish Western Beskids, including several geographical regions of the Western Carpathian Mts. (Southern Poland). Majority of these species are rare in the Polish part of the Carpathians and in Poland in general, with Eutrichapion punctiger, Protapion dissimile, Limobius borealis, as well as Omias puberulus being recorded from the Polish Western Beskids for the first time (*). Some of these species are commented upon.

Contribution to the knowledge of the Cyphagogini from SE-Asia, with description of two new species of Calodromus Guerin-Meneville, 1832 (Coleoptera: Brentidae: Cyphagoginae)

Calodromus kosteliae sp. nov. from Malaysia is described based on a single male specimen. The new taxon is closely related to Calodromus vethi Kleine, 1915 but can be distinguished by the different shape of the hind legs and by the absence of an apical tubercle on the first tarsal article of the male posterior legs. Calodromus malgosiae sp. nov. from Myanmar is also described based on a single male specimen; it is close to Calodromus amabilis Kleine, 1916 but can be distinguished by the different shape of the hind legs and by the absence of a tuft of hair on the apical tubercles of the first tarsal article of the male posterior legs. The following new synonymy is also established: C. horishanus Kano, 1930 = C. ito Heller, 1910. A key is provided for the identification of the males of the known species of Calodromus Guérin-Méneville, 1832. Some locality records are provided; Calodromus simplex Heller, 1910 and Calodromus amabilis Kleine, 1916 are recorded for the first time from Malaysia.

Dorytomus majalis (PAYK.) has been recorded for the first time from the Polish part of the Carpathians, and Catapion meieri (DESBR.), and Polydrusus inustus GERM. from the Polish part of the Western Carpathians. Another thirthy three weevil species (Rhynchitidae 1 species, Brentidae 4 species, Curculionidae 28 species) are recorded for the first time from the Kotlina Nowotarska land.
