This study presents the effect of biopreparations (Polyversum, Biochikol 020 PC and Biosept 33 SL) on fungal and bacterial rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere communities after seed dressing and spraying of Phaseolus vulgaris plants. The use of biopreparations has a positive effect on the communities of bacteria and fungi in soil under the cultivation of this plant. The number of cfu of the studied microorganisms in the nonrhizosphere soil was slightly lower than in the rhizosphere. Biochikol 020 PC and Biosept 33 SL increased the number of cfu of bacteria Bacillus spp. and Pseudomonas spp. and decreased the population of soil-borne fungi. Different species were isolated within the fungi and they belonged to the following genera: Altenaria, Fusarium, Rhizoctonia, Sclerotinia, Gliocladium, Penicillium and Trichoderma. The most antagonistic bacteria and fungi were obtained after introducing biopreparations Biochikol 020 PC or Biosept 33 SL. The smallest number of antagonists were found in the soil after dressing the bean seeds with Zaprawa Oxafun T and spraying the plants with fungicide Bravo Plus 500 SC and in the control combination. Besides, the applied biopreparations and fungicides had a positive effect on Pheseolus vulgaris yielding.
Investigations of the effect of selected preparations on in vitro growth of Trichoderma harzianum isolated from button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) crop and causing green moulds, were conducted in 2007. Different concentration of the preparations were added to PDA medium. Control consisted of medium with no fungicides added. Diameter of the fungal colonies was measured after 2 and 4 days and at 6 days after medium inoculation. The sporulation of T. harzianum was determined using a hemocytometer. The preparations: Biosept 33 SL, Bravo Plus 500 SC and Sporgon 50 WP completely inhibited the development of Trichoderma harzianum, irrespective of their concentration in the medium. Inhibitory effect, reducing the development of pathogen, was observed for Propolis 10% at concentration of 8.0 mg⋅cm⁻³ PDA, Bravo 500 SC at 2.2 mg⋅cm⁻³ and Biochikol 020 PC at 25.0 mg⋅cm⁻³. After application of the preparations inhibition of mycelium growth was statistically significant and 4 days after medium inoculation it reached 70%-84%. At the same time the fungus sporulation was significantly reduced.
Capsicum pepper, cv. Ożarowska, was grown in the greenhouse of University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, in experimental treatments involving biological control with mycorrhizal inoculum, Biochikol 020 PC, Polyversum and Asahi SL and chemical control with Bravo 500 SC. Plants without control measures served as a control treatment. After fruit harvest, samples of soil, stems and roots were collected, and fungi were isolated in the laboratory. The richest fungal community, dominated by yeast-like fungi, was found in soil samples. The proportion of pathogens (Alternaria alternata, Botrytis cinerea, Colletotrichum coccodes and species of Fusarium) was low and did not exceed 5% in the control treatments. The lowest number of pathogens were recorded in the soil under plants sprayed with Polyversum. Pathogenic fungi colonized also roots and stems of unprotected plants, accounting for 55.3% and 39.6% of the total population, respectively. The highest reduction in the abundance of the analyzed pathogens was recorded on stems and roots of peppers sprayed with the fungicide, in comparison with the control treatment. All tested methods of biological control effectively reduced severity of infection caused by pathogens. The abundance of pathogenic agents on stems and roots decreased to a greatest degree following the application of Biochikol 020 PC.
