In this work we present the results of 3 years long field experiment concerning the influence of 4 ways of after crop and prewinter soil cultivation and of sprinkling on the amount of moisture in the soil with sugar beet planted. It has been established that both far fatched simplification (giving up plowing), as well as intensification (deepening) of cultivation adversely influence the water conditions of rendzina at the time of the most intense growth of plants. In this respect the classical and simplified ploughing cultivation give better results. Water conditions are influenced to a greater extent by sprinkling than by cultivation methods. Sprinkling, however, improves mostly the moisturising of the outmost layer of the soil.
