Patients with internal diseases are not commonly affected by ascaridosis. In 1960-1965 the disease was found to occur in 5 patients aged from 16 to 56 years including 4 women and 1 man; 3 cases concomitantly showed other parasites of the alimentary tract. Two cases (16- and 27-year old women) are discussed in which ascaridosis could be considered as a main reason of complaints; in one case there was a marked degree of achromic anaemia and in the other an unexplained syndrom of abdominal symptoms.
On the example of the two described cases the authors draw attention to the possibility of infection with Strongylus intestinalis under our climatic conditions and the lay stress on the effectiveness of the treatment of the infection with gentian violet administered in the form of oral capsules or duodenal infusions.
