The objectives of the work was to determine the concentration of Ca and P in different fodders prepared in Great Poland region and to establish the influence of those fodders on the level of Ca and P in blood sera of ruminants. The concentration of Ca and P in roughages varied in relation to the kind of fodder. Mineral content of a part of concentrated mixed feeds of the home production was unbalanced. They characterized mainly by a low concentration of Ca. This fact affected the level of Ca in sera of young ruminants fed a restricted amounts of milk. The level of Ca in sera of these animals was lower than P and it amounted 1.97 mmol/L in calves and 1.58 and 1.75 mmol/L in lambs. The tendency toward a decrease of the level of serum P was noted in cows fed fodder containing large amounts of ensilaged leaves of sugar beet. In order to maintain a balance in transformation of minerals in animals a continuous control and correction of composition of minerals, especially Ca and P in roughages and in a total feed ration is necessary.
