Celem artykułu jest podsumowanie wyników inwentaryzacji sów prowadzonej w latach 2003–2010 na obszarach leśnych zachodniej części Pogórza Przemyskiego i porównanie uzyskanych wyników z dotychczasowymi danymi o liczebności i rozmieszczeniu sów na tym terenie. W trakcie badań stwierdzono 6 gatunków sów. Najliczniejszym gatunkiem był puszczyk uralski Strix uralensis, który występował w wysokim zagęszczeniu 5,2–7,3 teryt./10 km2. Zagęszczenia puszczyka zwyczajnego Strix aluco były o połowę niższe – 2,8–4,0 teryt./10 km2. Nowe gatunki dla Pogórza Przemyskiego, notowane tu dopiero po 2000 roku to sóweczka Glaucidium passerinum i włochatka Aegolius funereus. Ich zagęszczenia są stosunkowo niskie i wynoszą odpowiednio 0,5 teryt./10 km2 i 1,0 teryt./ 10 km2. Nielicznie występowały również uszatka Asio otus i pójdźka Athene noctua, ale ich zagęszczenia po uwzględnieniu terenów rolnych i wiejskich mogą się okazać wyższe, gdyż ptaki te są bardziej związane z obszarami rolniczymi. W trakcie badań na Pogórzu Przemyskim nie udało się zlokalizować ani jednego terytorium puchacza Bubo bubo. Udokumentowano, iż puszczyk zwyczajny zajmuje na omawianym obszarze mozaikę środowisk w niższych położeniach, a puszczyk uralski wyżej położone zwarte lasy jodłwo-bukowe i bukowe. Sóweczkę i włochatkę spotykano w jedlinach występujących w środkowej części stoków, a uszatkę głównie na obrzeżach lasu. Pójdźki zaś obserwowano w łęgu wierzbowym porastającym dolinę potoku. W zespole sów leśnych Pogórza Przemyskiego odnotowano regres gatunków puszczańskich (puchacz i puszczyk zwyczajny) i dominację sów o zasięgu borealno-górskim (puszczyk uralski, sóweczka i włochatka)
