Opracowano i poddano ocenie dwie metody analityczne oznaczania polifenolokwasów w liściu ortosyfonu. Metoda kolorymetryczna oparta na reakcji Arnowa pozwala na oznaczenie sumy polifenolokwasów. Metoda HPLC w układzie faz odwróconych została zastosowana do oznaczenia zawartości kwasu rozmarynowego. Współczynnik zmienności dla metody kolorymetrycznej wynosił 6,2%, a dla metody HPLC 4,8%. Opracowane metody zostały zastosowane do oznaczania zawartości polifenolokwasów w 15 handlowych próbkach liścia ortosyfonu. Zawartość polifenokwasów wahała się w granicach od 1,30% do 2,32%, podczas gdy zawartość kwasu rozmarynowego kształtowała się w zakresie od 0,11% do 0,46%. Badano również przejście polifenolokwasów do naparów. Stwierdzono, że 66,7% polifenolokwasów i 79,1% kwasu rozmarynowego jest ekstrahowanych gorącą wodą. Na podstawie przeprowadzonych badań można zaproponować limity zawartości polifenolokwasów w celu standaryzacji surowca.
