The studies were carried out on 35 000 broiler chickens kept in two broiler-houses of Bios type and 11 000 replacement chicks (in two hen houses, 5 500 in each one). Two coccidiostatics were administered, i. e. Cygro (5 ppm) and Diclazuril (1 ppm) as feed additives in broiler chickens. Replacement chickens were being given the coccidiostatics for 16 weeks of their life. In one poultryhouse Diclazuril and in another one Lerbek were used. The efficacy of the coccidiostatics was assessed on the basis of the following factors: an average body weight (broilers — 4 and 8 weeks, replacement chickens — 8 and 16 weeks), feed consumption, mortality, anatomo-pathological examination after Johnson and Reid and parasitological examination. No differences between the broiler chickens treated with Diclazuril and chickens treated with Cygro were found. In the replacement chickens better findings were observed in the group treated with Diclazuril (lower feed consumption, mortality and oocysts output) in comparison to the Lerbek group of chicks. The results of the studies showed that Diclazuril had not side effects, prevented poultry from coccidiosis and did not suppress the development of natural immunity of poultry against the disease.
The efficacy of Cydectin (Cyanamid production) was examined in cattle and sheep naturally infested with Psoroptes ovis, Haematopinus eurysternus, Hypoderma bovis and gastro-intestinal nematodes. Cydectin was used subcutaneously at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg b.w. The efficacy of Cydectin against ectoparasites was 100% and against gastro-intestinal nematodes — 96.5%.
The observations were done on 800 rabbits, White New Zealand, in two experimental groups consisting of 400 animals each. Salinomycin as a food additive was used during fattening (35—90 days of life) at a dose of 20 ppm. Coprological examinations by the method of Willis-Schlaaf and McMaster were done three times: at day 35, 63 and 89, 90 of life. The weight of rabbits was determined before and after the experiment. Consumption of food was also calculated. At day 90 in each group weight of liver in 120 rabbits was determined. Totally 9 species of Eimeria were found including 8 species parasitizing in the alimentary canal and one in the liver. Salinomycin at a dose of 20 ppm appeared to be very effective coccidiostatic protecting fully rabbits against coccidiosis. Using salinomycin a significant economical effects were noted: increase of body weight by 226 g/animal, decrease of food intake by 0,3 kg/animal, decrease of death rate by 5,18°/o comparing to a control group.
The studies were carried out in an experimental pig farm on 402 animals with Thuridan (spore of delta-endotoxin complex of Bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki). It was applied orally, as feed additive in a concentration of 0.1 and 0.5% for three current days. The efficacy of Thuridan was established with the use of fly-catchers which were hung in the same places – once before and three times after Thuridan had been used. After 3 application of Thuridan the number of flies decreased by 88%.
The studies were carried out in a pig farm and in a dairy cattle farm in South Poland. Thuridan was applied as 0.3% suspension in 3 replications in 7 days interval. The efficacy of Thuridan was established using fly -catchers which were hung on the same places – once before and three times after Thuridan was used. In the animal houses 86% less flies were found.
