A review of supralitoral species of the genus Trachyscelis in the Western Palaearctic and Afrotropical regions with new data on distribution and morphology of five Palaearctic species is given. The new smallest eyeless and wingless species T. shokhini sp. nov. is described from Agadir (Morocco) and the new species T. kochi sp. nov. With reduced tarsomeres and eyes is described from Socotra Island (Yemen). The latter species is similar to T. subcoecus Koch, 1960, from which it differs by different number of ommatidia, different tarsal formula, different shape of clypeus and different body size. Trachyscelis leoi Lo Cascio & Grita, 2011 and T. litoralis Soldati, 2009 are found on Socotra Island for the first time, T. tenuestriatus Fairmaire, 1886 is new record for Iran. Catalogue of the tribe Trachyscelini of the world with 20 species of 3 genera is given. The key to eight Western Palaearctic and Afrotropical species of Trachyscelis is given.
A brief review of the genus Nalassus Mulsant, 1854 of Turkey is given. The new genus Turkonalassus gen. nov. (type species Helops adimonius Allard, 1876) is described. Species of the newly described genus are superficially similar to representatives of the subgenus Pelorinus of Probations (subtribe Helopina), but belong to the subtribe Cylindrinotina and are close to the genus Nalassus from which they differ by the absence of temple grooves ventrally (lower aspect of eye without ventral groove). The following species are included in Turkonalassus: Turkonalassus adimonius (Allard, 1876) (from Probaticus), Turkonalassus pentheri (Reitter, 1905), comb. nov. (from Probaticus), Turkonalassus bozdagus Keskin et Nabozhenko, 2010, comb. nov. (from Nalassus), Turkonalassus pineus sp. nov., Turkonalassus quercanus sp. nov., Turkonalassus petrophilus sp. nov., Turkonalassus macedonicus sp. nov. The last species is described from Greece and Bulgaria, the other species are known from Turkey. A new synonymy is established: Nalassus Mulsant, 1854 = Helopocerodes Reitter, 1922, syn. nov.; Turkonalassus pentheri = Cylindronotus hoberlandtii Kaszab, 1959, syn. nov. Lectotype of Helops pentheri Reitter, 1905 is designated. A key to the species of the genus Turkonalassus and genus Nalassus from Turkey is given.
A new genus and species of fossil Tenebrionidae is described. Yantaroxenos colydioides gen. et sp. nov. in the subfamily Lagriinae (presumably the tribe Belopini) originates from Baltic amber. Yantaroxenos gen. nov. is most similar to the Western Hemisphere genus Rhypasma Pascoe, 1862 (Belopini) based on the general habitus, the granulated pronotal surface, carinate elytra, and the carinate anterior aspect of the pronotum. Yantaroxenos gen. nov. differs from Rhypasma in the scaly pubescence on the body, the presence of ridges above the eyes, the strongly convex and protruding anterior half of the pronotum that covers the base of the head, the shorter legs, and the absence of 3-segmented antennal club.
Six new species of the pimeliine genus Ceratanisus Gebien, 1937 are described from Transcaucasia and Anatolia: C. talyshensis sp. nov. (Azerbaijan: Talysh), C. transcaucasicus sp. nov. (Azerbaijan: Nakhchivan; Armenia: Ararat Prov.), C. khnzoriani sp. nov. (Armenia: Megri), C. costipennis sp. nov. (Turkey: Ankara), C. keskini sp. nov. (Turkey: Malatya Province), C. purcharti sp. nov. (Turkey: Kayseri Province, Taurus Mts.). A lectotype for C. tristis (Faldermann, 1837) from the Peloponnese Peninsula is designated. One new synonymy is established: Ceratanisus Gemminger, 1870 = Haemerophygus Baudi di Selve, 1876, syn. nov. The follow new combinations are also established (ail species are transferred from the genus Haemerophygus): Ceratanisus mucoreus (Waltl, 1838), comb, nov., Ceratanisus graecus (Kraatz, 1877), comb, nov., Ceratanisus allardi (Reitter, 1884), comb, nov., Ceratanisus taygetanus (Reitter, 1898), comb, nov., Ceratanisus osellai (Scupola, 1984), comb, nov., Ceratanisus guerroumii (F. Soldati et L. Soldati, 2002), comb. nov.
Rhypasma Pascoe, 1862 is transferred from the tribe Stenosini (Pimeliinae) to Belopini (Lagriinae). Caribanosis gen. nov. is described and placed in Stenosini (Tenebrionidae: Pimeliinae) to hold Rhypasma quisqueyanus Garrido et Varela, 2011. The following new combination is established: Caribanosis quisqueyanus (Garrido et Varela, 2011), comb. nov. Caribanosis is similar to the South American genus Grammicus Waterhouse, 1845 but differs in having a single central pronotal keel, not two lateral keels as in Grammicus. Both are members of the subtribe Stenosina.
