Field experiments were conducted in cherry orchards located in the central part of Poland during 2010–2011. The aim of these studies was to determine the effectiveness of acaricide Ortus 05 SC (fenpyroximate) in controlling plum rust mite in cherry orchards. The results showed that the tested product used at doses: 1.0, 1.25 and 1.0 l/ha with adjuvant Slippa in dose 0.2 l/ha was highly effective against plum rust mite.
In the 2003–2004 the effectiveness of two predatory mites: Zetzellia mali (Stigmaeidae) and Typhlodromus pyri (Phytoseiidae) in controlling phytophagous mites was studied in the neglected apple orchard. The results showed that the number of spider mites and rust mites occurring on the leaves with the predators were low. However, a combination of stigmaeids and phytoseiids was shown to have greater efficacy than either predator alone.
