This paper presents fifteen new localities of Orthotontium lineare found in the south-western Poland in the years 2002–2005. Current distribution and habitat preferences of O. lineare within this area are briefly described.
Orthotrichum affine var. bohemicum Plášek & Sawicki, var. nova, is a confirmed record of a new variety from the Czech Republic. The new taxon is described and illustrated by photos and drawing. It is characterized by having superficial stomata and a peristome with 16 endostome segments (practically as long as exostome teeth). Molecular data indicating the phylogenetic placement of the species are presented.
This work presents a list of localities for the following species: Anomodon attenuatus, A. viticulosus, Dicranum viride, Gymnomitrion alpinum, Hedwigia ciliata, Homalia trichomanoides, Lophoziopsis longidens, Obtusifolium obtusum, Odontoschisma elongatum, Orthodicranum tauricum, Porella platyphylla, and Syntrichia papillosa.
The results of bryological investigations from the “Boczki” nature reserve, located in Puszcza Romincka Forest, are presented. The reserve was established in 1974 for protection well preserved forest communities characteristic of the Romincka Primeval Forest. 154 bryophyte species were recorded – 37 liverworts and 117 mosses, including 37 unpublished species from the Puszcza Romincka Forest. In respect of frequency the main group make rare species – 29.2%, the least numerous were frequent – 21.4%. Terrestrial and epixylic habitats were the richest – refer 98 and 85 species respectively. Significant were groups of protected (47) and endangered (14) species. There is also a large share of bryophytes considered as primeval forest species – seven liverworts and 24 mosses, Antitrichia curtipendula and Zygodon rupestris among them.
New distribution data for 171 bryophyte taxa in the Roztocze National Park are provided. Among them there are 43 species protected by law in Poland, including 20 strictly protected species, as well as 13 species threatened in Poland. The research revealed 36 species (5 liverworts and 31 mosses) new for the region. Noteworthy is the occurrence of 19 mountain species and 10 bryophytes thought to be relicts of old-growth forests what confirms the specificity of nature of the Roztocze region. The most valuable and interesting finds are: mosses Campylophyllopsis sommerfeltii (Myrin) Ochyra, Dicranum viride (Sull. & Lesq.) Lindb., Buxbaumia viridis (Moug. ex Lam. & DC.) Brid. ex Moug. & Nestl. as well as liverworts Calypogeia suecica (Arnell et J. Perss.) Müll. Frib. and Cephalozia catenulata (Huebener) Lindb. A brief characterisations of these species are presented.

This paper presents the macromorphological and micromorphological characteristics of wood barley recorded in the Wielkopolska Lowland. On the basis of the collection of preserved specimens, the micromorphological features were examined under a scanning electron microscope (SEM) to assess their taxonomic value. The principal features include the size and shape of cork/silica cells, crown cells, prickles, macro-hairs and stomata as well as the morphology of long cells in vegetative and reproductive organs.
