O sezonowości rzęsistkowicy

100%
The observations were led for 5 consecutive years (1958-1962). The total number of cases included 39.692 subjects, hospitalized, unselected from the point of view of trichomonal infestation, at the age ranging from 3 months to 90 years (19.381 women and 20.311 men). The examined represented an average population. The urinary sediment was examined in direct preparations, in the filed of vision, as well as in phase microscope. Seasonal variations were found to occur in the whole population, the most pronouncedly in women at the age of sexual activity. During the 5-year observation period the minimal infestation rate occurred in the time from December to February, the maximal one from August to November. The results were subjected to statistical analysis; the differences amount to 200-400%. The results obtained point to the existence of season-conditioned trichomonadosis. No correlation could be found between the seasonal variations and annual oscillations of temperature. It is to be assumed that in the winter time a part of infestations is latent or undergoes a spontaneous regression. Regardless of their reason, the seasonal variations should be taken into account when comparing the results of scientific investigations.

Taking as the basis the author's studies the possibility is discusscd to erroneous diagnosis of plant dust (mote) for eggs or cysts of parasitcs in parasitologic examination of faeces. The readers are informed of some details of the structure of pollens and of the methods of differentiating them from eggs of parasites.
The survival rate of Trichomonas intestinalis L. in various concentrations of hydrochloric acid and gastric juice of various acidity was examined. The destroying effect of hydrochloric acid has been found to depend on its concentration in the medium. The gastric juice, as compared with hydrochloric acid, exerted a stronger inhibiting effect on the survival rate of Trichomonas intestinalis L. in the culture, this being probably related to additional factors (enzymes?).

Wartość badania moczu w diagnostyce rzęsistkowicy

100%
The author investigating the urine of persons suffering from trichomonadosis states that for the final evaluation of urine as a biological material for the diagnosis of trichomonadosis it is an important diagnostic material when the sensitive and simple method of examination by the phase microscope is used. Repeated results of the examinations attain 97 per cent, the majority of the infections are detected during the first examination of the urine and the possibility to detect the Trichomonas is maintained to a considerable degree even after 24 hours of the storage of the sediment of the urine at the temperature +4 and +18°C. The circumstances making difficult the detection of the Trichomonas are: an abundant sediment, strongly alkaline reaction of the urine and a small number of the Trichomonas. The examination of the urine should be conducted besides and independently from the examinations of other materials and should fill up the gape in the complex diagnostic examinations of trichomonadosis. This is particularly important in the isolated form of trichomonadosis of the urinary tracts.
