Ethametsulfuron-methyl is an active ingredient discovered by DuPont de Nemours, which controls Geranium, Brassicaceae and other broad-leaved weeds in oilseed rape. It is recommended to be used post emergence, between the stage 1 to 8 leaves of the winter oilseed rape, in mixture with other herbicides. The results show that Salsa™ 75 WG applied in a tank mix against broaden weed spectrum provides a more consistent weed control. Salsa™ 75 WG gives to farmers flexibility to use a wide number of programs to control weeds including those specific and/or difficult to control. The post emergence use of Salsa™ 75 WG allows to choose the best time for the herbicide treatment under the most favorable weather conditions.
In altricial species, early pre- and neonatal undernutrition interferes with the neuronal organization of several brain structures that have critical time windows for synaptic organization, including the prefrontal cortex. In Golgi-Cox stained tissue the basilar dendritic arbor of pyramidal neurons in the anterior cingulate cortex of early underfed adult lactating dams was evaluated. The anterior cingulate of the rat plays a major role in the execution of sexual, maternal and visual attentional control and other cognitive responses. The effects of neonatal undernutrition on the basilar dendritic tree and perikaryon measurements in layer II/III pyramidal neurons of the anterior cingulate were examined in lactating dams at postpartum days 8 and 12. In the underfed dams the distal portions of the basilar dendrites had fewer branches and a lower dendritic density of dendrites, and neurons had perikarya with reduced perimeter and cross-sectional area. Thus, the neuronal alterations may interfere the plastic synaptic activity and with maternal cognitive performance of rats subjected to early underfeeding. These anatomical alterations of the anterior cingulate may help to understand the disruption of long-term cognitive processes associated with perinatal food restriction.
Three populations of silky bent grass (Apera spica-venti L.) were tested – one that is susceptible and two that are resistant to sulfonylureas. Th is study assessed the efficacy of control by different herbicides in a pot experiment and estimated the molecular status of resistance to sulfonylureas in analysed populations and its effect on the effi cacy of different chemical treatments. The three most effective herbicide rotation schemes were: 1) chlorsulfuron + isoproturon, ethametsulfuron + metazachlor + quinmerac, chlorsulfuron + isoproturon; 2) prosulfocarb + difl ufenican, ethametsulfuron + quizalofop-p-ethyl, prosulfocarb + diflufenican; 3) diflufenican + flufenacet, quizalofop-p-ethyl, diflufenican + flufenacet. In most cases it was more difficult to destroy 100% of the resistant population from Modgarby where the majority of plants had no mutation in the als gene. In the resistant population from Babin there were signifi cantly more individuals with mutation in the als gene, therefore exhibiting target-site resistance.
