The article discusses the current key issues concerning protectionist practices implemented by Germany and France which are key players in the European international transport market in the context of the deteriorating competitive position of Polish transport operators. The material was divided into several parts. The first part describes the importance of German and French markets for road transport in Poland. The following two parts discuss protectionism within the European Union and briefly analyze the impact of the legislation on minimum wages in Germany and France on the road transport sector. Subsequently, the potential consequences of the Paris Alliance for Polish carriers are identified as well as their problems with regard to minimum wage regulations in Germany and France.
