191 species were recorded, the majority of them being typically euplanktonic components. The diatoms found are alkaliphilous and typical of high conductivity waters. The algal peaks occurred during autumn and spring in the headwaters and in the mid-course of the river, and at the end of summer and the beginning of winter in its mouth. The specific diversity fluctuated between 0.65 and 4.30, the highest values being recorded during summer and the lowest in winter.
