In the following paper have been presented the results of research concerning qualitative characterisation of sawn timber of Douglas fir, and the main aim is to define the purposefulness of introducing this type into industrial processing and its further use. The performed analyses were based on the results of investigations carried out by Dziewanowski (1968), Buchholz and Hruzik (1970), Hruzik (1979) in the case of the pine raw material and studies conducted by Hruzik 1994; Hruzik and Grzegorzewicz 1997; Wieruszewski 2000; Wieruszewski and Hruzik 2003 and Dziewanowski 1966 which described properties of Douglas fir timber. The lumber of determined provenance from logs cross-section and of various quality was cut out with thr use of metchods of exsperimental simulation info semi-products having the widths of 30, 50 and 70 mm and lengths of 250, 5000, 1000 and 1500 mm. In order to achieve even greater accuracy of the analysis of the effect of thickness of the Douglas fir raw material on its quality, as expressed by the output of specific elements, the authors tabulated the results of the output of specific elements obtained for all harvested logs (from different quality zones) in relation to their diameter in the thinner end (dd) and height diameters of model trees. Results of investigations analytically and graphically elaborated are the technological characteristics of Douglas fri wood in form of logs and lumber.
