The problem of pressure between rollers in the sheet-fed offset press is presented. It appears in any place of the machine where at least two rollers being in contact are found. Correct selection of pressure has an essential significance because incorrect setting of it can lead to lower the quality of a printed package, faster wear of some machine parts and also excessive consumption of ink or fountain solution. So far the suitable pressure or surface pressure has been adjusted experimentally often on the basis of a subjective printer’s impression. The formula for closeness of two rollers was presented. This closeness depends upon the force applied to their centres and also upon the width of the contact zone between these rollers.
