Environmental protection is a current issue due to intensive agriculture and industrialization. The need to protect flora and fauna, biological diversity and genetic pool is especially significant if the 1986 Charnobyl disaster in the nuclear power plant is considered. The disaster led to radioactive contamination of one fifth of Belarous and has posed a great threat to the fauna and flora.The author discusses forms of nature conservation in Belarous, participation of governmental institutions in international organizations and concluding international conventions in the field of environmental protection.
