Background. Fish gut bacteria may be used as probiotics for fish. Those occurring in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract of rohu, Labeo rohita (Hamilton, 1822), have not been sufficiently studied. This study was intended: to detect bacteria in the intestine of rohu by scanning electron microscopy (SEM); to evaluate the existence of heterotrophic, proteolytic, amylolytic, and cellulolytic bacteria in three different regions of the gut of rohu; and to identify more than 25% of the isolated gut bacteria by 16S rRNA. Materials and Methods. The GI tracts were removed and divided into three regions: foregut, midgut, and hindgut. Tissues used for SEM were fixed in glutaraldehyde, washed in heparinised saline, dehydrated in graded ethanol, fixed in amyl acetate, dried with liquid nitrogen, coated with gold, observed, and photographed. Homogenates of the intestinal segments were spread onto tryptic soy agar plates and selected nutrient media plates to determine heterotrophic, proteolytic, amylolytic, and cellulolytic bacterial populations, respectively. Of the 59 adherent bacterial strains isolated from the GI tract of rohu 16 isolates were tried for identification by 16S rRNA genes. Results. Bacteria were observed to adhere to the gut enterocyte surfaces. Population level of enzyme-producing bacteria was higher in the midgut and hindgut regions than that observed in the foregut region. Furthermore, dense amylolytic and cellulolytic bacterial population in comparison to the proteolytic population was noticed in the GI tract of L. rohita. Highest density of the cellulolytic bacterial population in the hindgut region may indicate that fermentative degradation occurs in this part of the GI tract. Eleven adherent bacterial strains belonged to bacilli, 2 strains to Pseudomonas, 1 strain to Aeromonas, 1 strain was most closely related to Enterobacter, while 1 strain showed < 97% 16S rRNA sequence similarity in BLAST program was treated as unknown. Conclusion. Autochthonous bacteria were present in the GI tract of rohu and that the autochthonous microbiota possess enzymatic activity that might be beneficial for the fish.

Karczmarczyk Field experiments on effects of sprinkling irrigation and various doses of nitrogen were performed on two types of soil: sand and sandy loam. On the sandy soil irrigated sugar beets and corn yielded best whean supplied with 210 kg N per 1 ha, whereas 175 kg N proved best for watered potatoes and winter wheat. On the sandy loam soil, for sprinkled beets and corn 180 i kg N ha-1 are recommended, and for potatoes and winter wheat 150 kg. Because irrigation and fertilization distinctly increased the yields, significant losses in magnesium content in the crop and upper soil layer were found. On the sandy soil irrigation contributed to the leaching of magnesium into deeper layers of the soil profile.
W latach 1998 - 2000 w zlewni jeziora Miedwie, stanowiącej znaczną część dorzecza Płoni, prowadzone były pomiary przepływu w 10 przekrojach hydrometrycznych, łącznie z pobieraniem prób wody do analiz chemicznych. W sumie przeprowadzono 22 serie pomiarowe wraz z ich opracowaniem laboratoryjnym. Wyznaczono stężenia rozpuszczalnych form N i P oraz zawiesiny, a następnie na podstawie obliczonych odpływów określono rzeczywiste ładunki tych składników w wodach powierzchniowych dopływających do jeziora Miedwie.
The second part of this paper presents effects of supplemental irrigation and nitrogen fertilization on nitrate levels in flag leaf, activity of some enzymes and yield of winter wheat and triticale. Both sprinkling irrigation and high doses of nitrogen enhanced the activity of nitrate reductase and Peroxydase and slightly that of acid phosphatase. Plants from plots treated with high rates of nitrogen contained more nitrate nitrogen. Sprinkling irrigation and intensive nitrogen fertilization significantly increased the crops of winter wheat and triticale. As effect of sprinkling the yield of winter wheat increased by 35 % and triticale by 14 %. High nitrogen doses affected the yield respectively by 92 and 115 % and the combined effect of both treatments increased the yield of winter wheat by 158 % (3.3 t/ha and triticale by 139 % 3.10 t/ha).
The amount of rainfall received over an area is an important factor in assessing availability of water to meet various demands for agriculture, industry, irrigation, generation of hydroelectricity and other human activities. Over the study period of recent 30 years, trend values of monsoon average rainfall in Chittagong have increased. This paper has measured the correlation coefficients between rainfall and time for Chittagong, where correlation coefficient for Chittagong is positive. In order to check the strength of linear relationship between rainfall and time, P-value has been measured. Due to various factors of Chittagong region of Bangladesh, there is a growing need to study the rainfall, temperature and humidity pattern. This study was checked annual average rainfall of 30 years, temperature of 60 years and humidity of 28 years for this region. It is hoped that this research may be of help to the concerned organizations and experts working on increasing climate variation in Chittagong.
The sharing of species of ectomycorrhizal fungi (EMF) among different co-occurring host plant species could allow the formation of common mycorrhizal networks, which can alter plant–plant interactions and succession. Such sharing of EMF among woody species is thought to be common in many forests, but very few herbaceous plants form EMF, so they are assumed to be excluded from EMF networks in forests. We studied the EMF on roots of a common coniferous tree, Pinus sylvestris, and a co-occurring rare herbaceous perennial plant, Pulsatilla patens (Ranunculaceae), in northeastern Poland. We examined roots from co-occuring P. sylvestris and P. patens, visually classified EMF into morphotypes, studied tissue sections of mycorrhizal structures using compound microscopy, and used DNA sequencing to identify the fungi. On both host plant species, we observed EMF colonization, with colonized root tips exhibiting a swollen appearance, as well as a variety of colors and textures of fungal mycelium covering and emanating from those swollen tips. Sectioning and microscopic examination of an EMF morphotype common on P. patens confirmed the presence of a mantle and Hartig net, indicating the likely presence of functional ectomycorrhizal structures. The two most frequent EMF were Cenococcum geophilum and Piloderma olivaceum, and the latter was found to associate with both host plant species. Several EMF found here only on P. patens, including C. geophilum and two Russula species, are known from previous studies to also associate with P. sylvestris and other tree species. The observation of shared EMF between a coniferous tree and an understory herb indicates the potential for common mycorrhizal networks to alter interactions between these two species and may also indicate a unique way in which the distribution and abundance of a rare herbaceous plant may be influenced by shared mutualisms with a common co-occurring woody plant.
