The purpose of the work was to present comparative results of mink examinations for Aleutian disease performed by the use of the iodine test and the CCE specific method. The studies were done on six mink farms, i.e. on 1561 animals in years 1988—89. For the comparison of the two methods there was used the CCE method as a standard, and in reference to that method the consistence and specificity of the iodine test was assessed. On the basis of the results it was found a high concordance of the two methods (81.9%), a relatively low sensitivity of the iodine test (58%) and its high specificity (91.3%). The iodine test can be applied as a test to evaluate a general health state of mink but it cannot be used to determine the degree of virus infection because 27.6% of positive findings was net associated with Aleutian disease.
