New localities of Geastrum striatum and G. melanocephalum were found in the Botanical Garden of the Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz. According to the Polish Red List of Macromycetes, they belong to the category of endangered species (E). Basidiomes of G. striatum were observed for the first time in 1999. In 2004, seventy basidiomes were recorded near Pseudotsuga menziesii, but in 2009, only five basidiomes were found in this location. Basidiomes of G. melanocephalum were found under the canopy of Fraxinus excelsior in summer 2010. In the consecutive years (2011-2013), the fungus was observed again in the same place, however, the number of basidiomes was smaller. In summer 2010, G. striatum occurred in the vicinity of the G. melanocephalum site. This confirmed the findings of other researches who observed co-occuring of G. striatum and G. melanocephalum.
