Nine species of the Famennian phacopid trilobites are described from the southern part of the Holy Cross Mts. In addition to forms already recorded from this area the writer describes some species never before found in Poland, as well as two quite new species, namely: Trimerocephalus polonicus and Dianops? trifolius.
A specimen of a fish, described here as Semionotus cf. bergeri Agassiz, has been found in the siderite spherolite concretion from the gray claystones of the main ore-bearing series in horizon Ia of the "Edward" mine at Czarniecka Góra near Staporków. This specimen represents two halves of the exoskeleton from their inner sides. The caudal fin and the endoskeleton are lacking. Sediments, in which this fish has been found, belong to the Lower Lias.

The storm surge recorded in a thin section

38%
Limestone and sandstone beds deposited by storms are called tempestites, and exhibit much variation in thickness, grain size and internal structures, depending on the proximity and on the intensity of the storm waves. In this paper, diagnostic features of storm beds observed in thin sections, was presented. Characteristic features are investigated on the basis of detailed study in the Upper Devonian carbonates in the western part of the Holy Cross Mountains (Poland).
Nine species of the Famennian phacopid trilobites are described from the southern part of the Holy Cross Mts. In addition to forms already recorded from this area the writer describes some species never before found in Poland, as well as two quite new species, namely: Trimerocephalus polonicus and Dianops? trifolius.
The presence of Ordovician conodont zones from the Late Arenigian (Middle Kunda stage) to the Late Caradocian has been indicated in 8 m thick Mójcza Limestone (Holy Cross Mts, Poland). The conodont fauna of Mójcza is of the Baltic type and decidedly differs from the fauna known from Rzeszówek, situated about 300 km to the west in the Kaczawa Mts (Sudeten Mts). Phragmodus polonicus sp.n. from Mójcza and Erraticodon balticus gen. et sp.n. from a Baltic erratic boulder have been described.
Descriptions are given of 33, species of Middle Devonian Bryozoa from the Holy Cross Mts., belonging to the orders Cyclostomata and Cystoporata. Cyclostomata are represented by 26 species (4 new: Corynotrypa (Corynotrypa) skalensis, C. (C.) basiplata, Stomatopora varigemmata and Diversipora bitubulata n. gen.). Cystoporata are represented by 7 new species: Ceramoporella orbiculata, C. grandicystica, Favositella integrimuralis, Fistulipora boardmani, F. emphantica, Cyclotrypa nekhoroshevi and Fistuliramus astrovae. The systematic assignment of the genus Hederella Hall, 1881 has been discussed and the "tabulate-like" microstructure of the zooecial walls of this genus examined. In addition, the epifauna and associated assemblages have been characterized as well as the geological and palaeoecological conditions in which the described Bryozoa occurred.
This paper describes the vertebrate ichnofauna from the Tumlin Sandstone (Buntsandstein) of the Holy Cross Mountains in Poland. The footprint assemblage has previously been regarded as Early Triassic in age; however, ichnogenera characteristic of the Late Permian are now recognized. Lack of representatives of the ichnofamily Chirotheriidae, characteristic of continental Triassic sediments worldwide, also indicates a Permian rather than a Triassic age for the studied assemblage. Three ichnogenera (Batrachichnus, Limnopus, and Amphisauropus) produced by amphibians are recognized, the remainder (Varanopus, Chelichnus, Dimetropus, Rhynchosauroides, Palmichnus, Paradoxichnium, and Phalangichnus) being of reptilian origin. Batrachichnus cf. salamandroides (Geinitz, 1861), Limnopus cf. zeilleri (Delage, 1912), Amphisauropus cf. latus Haubold, 1970, Varanopus aff. microdactylus (Pabst, 1896), Chelichnus cf. duncani (Owen, 1842), and Dimetropussp. are recorded in the Lower Buntsandstein for the first time. The following new ichnospecies are erected: Rhynchosauroides kuletae ichnosp. nov., Palmichnus lacertoides ichnosp. nov., Paradoxichnium tumlinense ichnosp. nov., Phalangichnus gradzinskii ichnosp. nov., and Phalangichnus gagoli ichnosp. nov.
Acritarchs and prasinophyceans belonging to eleven genera have been found in the Upper Ordovician (Ashgill) deposits from Zalesie Nowe (Holy Cross Mountains, southern Poland). They are the first representatives of organic-walled plankton described thus far from the uppermost Ordovician/lowermost Silurian strata in the southern part of the Holy Cross Mountains.
