The recycled plastics can be used in manufacturing of food packaging in the EU according to the Regulation (EC) No 282/2008. Recycled plastics used in the manufacturing of articles intended to contact with food must be obtained from the authorised processes of recycling only. The processes of recycling undergo safety evaluation performed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and must obtain authorisation of the European Commission. The procedure of granting of the Community authorisation for the recycling processes was discussed in this article, including the information on the content of the declaration of compliance for the final articles made from the recycled plastics as well as for the plastics themselves deriving from the recycling processes. The final articles made form the recycled plastics intended to contact with food and the plants recycling of plastics intended to contact with food undergo the official control of the State Sanitary Inspection.
