The modern food retail trade means a concentrated and overstocked market in developed countries as well as in many developing countries. Joining the food chains of the “modern retail trade” often poses a problem for small-sized agricultural producers, which decreases their market opportunities. Trading in short supply chains is an option for producers to reach markets and increase incomes. The object of this exploring study is to use primary interviews to assess the opinions and satisfaction of the producers trading in short supply chains about their sales opportunities. The main question is how short supply chains can perform their given roles as regards both producer positions and in rural development.
The purpose of the research study is to present the principles of pork production in Poland especially in the context of national food security and safety. The article presents a synthetic view of the Polish pig sector situation after the UE integration. The author highlights the problems of pig producers as the basic element of the food chain. The study was based on the data of national statistics, industry reports, and national and international literature review related to the issue of pig market problems in Poland. In this paper, the importance of exogenous and endogenous factors and their implications for the pig supply chain in Poland and the role of it in the high and constantly improving level of food safety in the country was also emphasized.
Management of logistics as a subsystem of business management starts to use more comples tools as BSC, ABC and SCORmodel. This paper shows onthe necessity of change the system of company´s managing on process managing what is necessary condition for the above mentioned tools application.
Subject and purpose of work: The object and goal of the study is to present general development factors of bioeconomy and the desired directions of structural changes in this sector of economy. Materials and methods: This study was written with the use of publications devoted to this issue and documents of various institutions, especially those of the European Union. Results: The study attempts to demonstrate the importance of bioeconomy and the need for structural changes in bioeconomy. The authors highlight the need for transition within the social capitalism system from the concept of supply chains through agricultural complexes to the organisation of bioclusters. Conclusions: Evolutionary changes in the structure and functioning of bioeconomy are altered by the nature of competition between business partners in supply chains, which contributes to the consolidation of consumer benefits and counteracts over-exploitation of natural resources.
This paper aims to present a systemic approach of some important information sharing ways from the point of view from the efficiency of supply chains, and provides a short review of Hungarian retail sectors related, actual status. The success of supply chains can be based on the partnership among the member sites and especially on the quality and quantity of the shared information. The aim of profit maximization in a supply chain can be mostly achieved through the minimization of transportation costs and at the same time with the maximization of the quantity of sold products. However the utilization of the high quantity of required data necessitates an appropriate preparedness by each member of the supply chain. Retail has a determinative role in the adequacy of related efficiency requirements, since in the next to last point of the chain it gets primary information related to the end-customers preferences.
Hungarian fresh vegetables and fruit sector underwent three essential restructuralization processes in the last two decades. One of the important components of the process was the change in official regulation, within which change in food quality and safety regulation was decisive. Analysis of the traceability system of Hungarian fresh vegetables and fruit sector was carried out on the basis of the TCE theory. The research was built on three primary researches: interviews with experts in official organization and in retail chains, as well a questionnaire surveys of producers' cooperatives and larger-scale producers.
Many of food affair which lowered the consumer protection and the trust of the consumer in the products happened in the last years. Reaction of the European legislator was remitting many regulations among others Regulations No. 178/2002 or 1935/2004 which put the product security and food legislation throughout Europe on the same base. The requirement should guarantee the full traceability of food demanding from each stage of supply chain marking of products and collecting data about the products. In this way tracking and tracing of food from the producers to industry and logistic services to final costumers will be possibly. One of the stage of the food supply chain is wholesale market which is used in this article as an example. The EAN Standard and EAN codes which help to fulfill the requirement of the European Parliament (178/2002) are the main focus. It will be shown what profits give the EAN code and how import this is for us, final costumers.
The paper presents the results of research on the roles, strategies, measures and structures of national, regional, and local institutions in assisting food product SMEs and supply chain management and development in two lagging rural regions (LRRs) situated in south-eastern Poland. The research has been conducted under 3-year project on supply chains linking food SMEs in six European countries under EU Fifth Framework Research Programme.
An aim of the article is to assess the state of regulation of the relations between business partners in the FMCG distribution channels and an attempt to answer the question whether it is possible to work out in the EU countries a compromise among the supply chain participants, i.e. a joint adoption of good practices and abstention from improper actions or rather there will be necessary to introduce a uniform, restrictive legal act. The scope of analysis covered the relations between sales networks and FMCG suppliers. The article was prepared on the basis of the literature on relations between enterprises in distribution channels as well as materials of the European Economic and Social Committee; EESC. The description and analysis of the phenomena and processes occurring in relations between entities of the FMCG supply chain comprised irregularities occurring in the contacts between goods deliverers and commercial enterprises as well as the existing and proposed in this respect solutions. As important there is considered the information and education aspect of this article.
In 2005 when work on ISO 9001 revision update has already started, IAF general assembly received distressing feedback from the market stating that increasing number of organizations could no longer rely on the performance of its suppliers certified to ISO 9001. They decided that actions must be taken urgently to change this troubling trend. Therefore, it has been developed a plan containing several initiatives with the common purpose to increase the customers confidence in quality management systems certifications. The task allocated to the ІSO/TC 176 technical committee responsible for ISO 9001 revision was to review the requirements contained in ISO 9001:2000 to check if those were sufficient for supporting the main objective of this standard, ie. to provide confidence that organizations which implemented quality management system based on the above mentioned standard demonstrate their ability to consistently provide conforming products to customers.
