The studies intended to determine basic characteristics of fertilizer metering process affecting longitudinal uniformity of fertilizer distribution in the field. Longitudinal non-uniformity of fertilizer distribution along the trajectory of machine set was assumed as a qualitative parameter of fertilizer spreading. Average relative length of the path along which the fertilizers are distributed at acceptable deviation was assumed as a criterion of fertilizer metering quality. Presented algorithm of fertilizer spreading quality control assumes the evaluation of metering parameters alog the section equal to control interval. Regarding control efficiency the interval should be as small as possible, however, sufficient for statistical evaluation reliability. The results of theoretical considerations and experimental studies were given as a basis for analysing technological process of fertilizer metering. Methods of machine operation quality control and automatic adjustment of metering device which ensure sufficient accuracy of fertilizer dose per hectare were described. Presented algorithm of fertilizer spreading quality control enables to evaluate the parameters of fertilizer metering at minimum costs and sufficient level of statistical evaluation accuracy. On the basis of theoretical considerations and experimental results it was found that to obtain the reliable information on fertilizer metering the number of measurement points ranges within 51-122, at discretization step 0.2 m and necessary control range equal to 25 m section of the path.
