Analysis of productivity indicators in dairy farms

88%
The aim of the paper was to analyse the relation of milk yield per cow with a set of production factors on sample data from six dairy farms located in the central region of Poland. The farms, which were the subject of the study, carried out an intensive production, achieving milk yield over the national average. The research showed an increase in milk yield with increasing number of cows in the herd, which, in practice, can lead to increased loads in milking installations in farms keeping more cows.
The aim of the paper is an assessment of changes in production factors productivity in commercial farms in 2012 in comparison to 2004. An analysis concerns the fl exibility of relations among production factors like: arable lands areas in hectares, human labor input in man-hours, total cost in Polish zloty in 2004 and 2012 and the effects resulted from using above mentioned factors expressed in production value. It allowed to make an assessment of changes in rural farms’ economic effectiveness within eight years after Poland’s accession to the European Union. In surveyed period average labor effectiveness increased of 86.5%, and land effectiveness of 29.7%. Average capital productivity decreased just like labor and land margin productivity.
The paper includes the results of measurements of timber logs sorting by a modern, equipped with the newest measurement and steering systems line for automatic pretreatment of timber materials. The examined research was made in one of sawmills of Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The paper reviews the concept of public goods, indicating its various dimensions. The fundamental objective of the paper is conceptualizing public goods and answering a question whether a public goods delivered by agricultural land is valorized in land prices. The aim of the study was also to identify the mechanism that makes intrinsic land utility transformed into productivity in monetary units. A conducted research consists in deriving a land rent capitalized in land prices and estimating its share in land value in comparison with the share of lease fees in the different regions of Poland in years 2000–2009. In the authors opinion since accession of Poland to the UE a market has valorized intrinsic utilities of land, whereas the new role of capital and labour is distribution of those utilities in favour of consumers. Given the fact that there is a lack of Polish scientifi c studies on agricultural areas as a provider of public goods fi ndings of foreign scientists were also used in the research. Since the beginning of human civilization, the land has been creating certain utilities which satisfy human needs. When the dangerous side effects of industrial agriculture have occurred intrinsic land utilities are being discovered anew. They have a nature of public goods and constitute a hard core of the sustainable agriculture paradigm. Despite irreversible accumulation of capital in the anthropogenic environment many new utilities of the land come into existence without additional capital and labour inputs. Since they are public goods, they are paid from taxes in great measure. This way an intrinsic land utility takes a form of a paid product and can be called “intrinsic productivity” of land.
Subject and purpose of work: The aim of the article is to assess the phenomena of sigma convergence of labour productivity in agriculture and other sectors of rural economy in Polish regions during 2003 – 2014 in the context of the amount of European funds designated for agriculture and rural areas. European supprt was compared to the Gross Added Value of agriculture, forestry, hunting and fishery. Materials and methods: The subject literature and statistical data received from the Agricultural Modernization Agency and the Local Data Bank of the Central Statistical Office were used. The empirical data regarding the level of agriculture in regions as well as the data on the resources utilised from the European Union were examined in order to assess the correlation between them and the phenomenon of regional sigma-convergence. Results: The study confirms the sigma convergence of the Gross Value Added per units of funding obtained from the European Union Budget and different level of sigma convergence of GVA / PE in regions. Conclusions: Sigma convergence assessment of the Gross Value Added per person employed in regions shows that in the analyzed period three phases could be distinguished: convergence (2003 – 2008), divergence (2008 – 2010) and stagnation (2010 – 2014).
