Pathomorphological studies were carried out on 119 European bisons of both sexes and various ages shot in the years 1990-1994 in the Białowieża forest during breeding selection. The culled animals were old and ill, but some healthy ones were also eliminated to keep the herd size under control. The bisons were examined at necropsy and histopathologically. Pathomorphological lesions caused by parasites were observed most frequently in the lungs and livers. Myocardial parasitic lesions were also quite common. In a large number of male bisons some lesions were found in the prepuce and penis.
Morphological changes (histopathological and ultra- structural lesions) have been described in Peking ducks with a generalized amyloidosis ((3-fibrylosis). Long and thin fibers of amyloid of diameter of 8-12 nm and a length of 1510-1580 nm localized extracellulary formed parallel structures or felt-like structures. Biosynthesis of amyloid probably resulted due to disturbances in the immune system of the bird. This view is supported by charges in electropherograms of serum proteins of the ducks.
The aim of the examinations was to define the kinds of neoplastic changes in dog’s prostate using biopsy techniques and histopathological method. Fifty dog’s prostates which were received during the post mortem examination were used for the examination. In 14 cases neoplastic changes were diagnosed, 4 cases evidenced purulent inflammation, 17 no neoplastic growth, and 15 prostates had a normal structure. In this article these two described below methods of pathomorphological diagnosis are compared, simultaneously demonstrating their usefulness and the complete agreement of received results.
A quantitative analysis of neoplasma occurring in dogs was performed on the basis of diagnostic pathomorphological examinations. Materials were submitted to the Department of Pathology of the Veterinary Faculty at Warsaw for histopathological examinations and included the biopsies performed during tumor surgeries (819 cases) and tumors found in autopsied dogs (157 cases). A total 976 cases of neoplastic lesions were analysed. The breed of analysed dogs, their age and sex were taken into account. Localization of neoplasms and their biological and histogenetical characteristics were analysed too. More cases of tumors were found in female than in male dogs and they occurred mostly in animals over 5 years of age. Over 50 per cent of neoplastic lesions were localized within the skin, subcutaneously or in the mammary gland. More often epithelial neoplasms were found and the majority of them were malignant.
Post mortem diagnosed pathomorphological lesions in adrenals of piglets which had died due to various diseases were described. The severity of degenerative and inflammatory lesions can be attributed to acute adrenal crisis in these piglets. Results of study indicated the possibility of the occurence in piglets of secondary, acute adrenocortical damage, during the course of enteric and pulmonary diseases. These changes could be the direct cause of the pigletsʼ death, because of the severe adrenocortical insufficiency which had developed.
Neoplasms of the esophagus are very rare in dogs. They account for 0.5% of all tumors. In the presented case the development of carcinoma was latent. The first symptoms were hypersalivation, vomiting, the backward flow and difficulty in swallowing of solid food. Subsequently the dog wasn’t able to swallow fluids. Hyperleucocytosis, lymphocytosis, monocytosis, anemia and elevated alkaline phosphatase level in the serum suggested tumor growth. An esophagoscopy was conducted as was oesophagostenosis: a tumor with hemorrhagic focuses, ulcer formations and erosions were observed. The dog was subjected to euthanasia. Specimens for histological examination were taken. The histology and immunohistological analysis confirmed the diagnosis of squamosus cell carcinoma.

The aim of the works was to determine the pathomorphological picture of the liver, kidneys and heart of SPF chicken embryos inoculated at day 5th of incubation with sublethal doses (10⁵‧⁰—10¹‧⁵ EID₅₀) of CELO virus (FAV-1). Between 8—10 days after inoculation there were observed some lesions and sporadically basophilic inclusion bodies in the liver cells and epithelial cells of kidney tubules. The embryos remained alive to the hattching following infecion with 10⁰‧⁵ of CELO virus.
