Studies on the ANN implementation in the macro BIM cost analyzes. The paper presents an approach which combines the concept of macro-level BIM-based cost analyzes analyzes and application of artificial intelligence tools – namely artificial neural networks. Discussion and foundations of the proposed approach are introduced in the paper to clarify the problem’s core. An exemplary case study reports the results of initial studies on the application of neural networks for the purposes of BIM-based cost analysis of a buildings’ fl oor structural frame. The results obtained justify the proposal of application of neural networks as a supportive mathematical tool in the problem presented in the paper.
From 1 May of 2004, when Lithuania becomes member of the EU, the opportunity for Lithuania to benefit from European Union structural assistance became realistic in 2004–2006 Single Programming Document (SPD)and the Cohesion Fund Strategy for 2004–2006. The whole of this period, support for the SPD and Cohesion Fund projects was 5.9 billion Litas. Lithuania was also receiving assistance under the Transition Facility. The latter is to continue the Lithuanian institution-building and help address gaps in the administrative capacity to implement Community legislation and enforce it. 2007–2013, EU structural assistance Lithuania shall be granted by the European Social Fund, European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund under the 2007–2013 EU structural assistance in the recovery strategy (more than 23 billion Litas). The aim of article is analyze the implementation of EU assistance for Lithuania 2007–2013 years
This paper presents the process and results of the implementation of the irrigation system on meadows in Tanzania. The irrigation system was im- plemented in 2010 and 2012 as an element of two development projects co-financed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland un- der the Polish Development Programme. During the first phase ( 2010) the earth water reservoir and the canal carrying water on a meadow were built and the irrigation system based on Amirite sprinklers was installed . In 2012, the concrete water tanks were built , and two hose reel irrigators were bought and put in action . The i mplementation of the irrigation system allowed for a significant increase in the production of hay. In the analyzed time period (from 2008 to 2012) the increase in yields of hay from 34.7 tons to 237.3 tons was noticed. The resulting implementation of the irrigation project increase hay production should be considered valuable, especially under the conditions of advancing climate change and its potential impact on the reduction of agricultural production in Tanzania.
The paper presents the current state of the law as regards the production of energy from renewable energy sources in Poland. In this light, development conditions of a relatively new industry, i.e. solid biofuel production, are presented. Organizational conditions (availability and supply of raw material) and legal regulations were the basis for the assessment of the chances of successful implementation of a new, innovative product. Bearing the above in mind, the idea of a new type of solid biofuel, which is to be produced by EcoPowerPlant Company, is described.
The aim of this work was to present the possibilities of the Polish industry to produce machinery for food processing. The offer of the Polish industry includes production not only for big processing plants, but also machinery and devices for food-processing on a small and medium scale. The offered machinery and devices allow for manufacturing refined products and also products included in the group referred to as “minimally processed products”. Many achievements in this field of processing technology and design of machines and devices do not differ from the European standards. Many-years experience and individual approach to customers result in the fact that machines produced in Poland meet in many cases the highest quality standards in the world. Polish machines for the food processing industry are exported to several dozens of countries, including the demanding markets of EU, USA and Canada.
The paper presents the results of empirical research conducted among farmers from different Polish provinces. The study involved 140 farmers, where half of them were young people (so-called young farmers, in the age under 40), and the remaining – older farmers. The attitudes of farmers towards innovation were examined, taking into account some factors of human capital. The study was conducted using the survey method. Based on the obtained results the significant relationship between the level of education and the quality of human capital was indicated. The younger, well-educated farmers are looking for new solutions and willing to implement innovations. Despite the pro-innovative attitudes, implementation of new solutions is very difficult. In the opinion of respondents, the most important barrier to the implementation of innovation is not the lack of knowledge and information about new solutions, but the lack of funds and the high cost of new technologies.
The principle of sustainable development is a fundamental assumption of Ecological National Politics that compels agri-food companies to protect natural environment. According to the principle of sustainable development, companies in their activity should follow equally economical targets as well as social and environmental ones Practical implementation of these purposes demands the introduction of ecological management systems into agri-food companies, which enlarge the efficiency of proecological activities in those units.

The article aims to analyze the concept of eco-innovations emphasizing the motivations for implementing them, and effects of the eco-innovation process. The author presents the principal definitions of eco-innovations. Various motivations triggering eco-innovations are presented with a focus on regulatory and market factors. Entrepreneurs should be encouraged to adopt eco-innovations because they contribute to sustainable development which is the only way for a world that is challenged by global population growth, climate change, declining non-renewable resource stock, water shortages, and environmental degradation. The effects of eco-innovations can be both positive and negative. The main aim of eco-innovations is to decrease the environmental burdens of entrepreneurial activity. However, a new attitude towards eco-innovations emphasizes the role of economic returns and supplies security. The types of effects of environmentally friendly innovations discussed in the paper include environmental, technological, economic, social, cultural and managerial.
