Twenty exuviae of Coenagrion puella were marked and observed for three weeks in 2005. The number of marked exuviae rapidly declined and after 23 days there were only 30% of exuviae left; these were so weather-worn that it was impossible to identify them. To collect 50% of the exuviae it would be necessary to visit a locality 10 days after emergence.

A description of the last larval instar (based on exuviae) of Globicornis (Hadrotoma) emarginata (Gyllenhal, 1808) (Coleoptera: Dermestidae) is presented. Morphological characters of Globicornis larvae are characterized and discussed, including antenna, epipharynx, mandihula, maxilla, ligula with labial palpi, hastiseta, spiciseta, legs, terga, and condition of the antecostal suture. Structural differences of mature larvae of the following Globicornis species are compared and summarized: Globicornis (Hadrotoma) corticalis (Eichhoff, 1863), Globicornis (Hadrotoma) emarginata (Gyllenhal, 1808) and Globicornis (Globicornis) nigripes (Fabricius, 1792).

Collections of chironomid pupal exuviae and male imagos were made in the Vistula between the reservoirs Wisła Czarne and Goczałkowice and its source spring Biała Wisełka and Czarna Wisełka. 80 species were identified, 6 of which were found to be new to Poland. The presence/absence and relative numbers of the species found in the samples were used to define the chironomid assemblage, that could be applied to evaluate the pollutant effect of sewage effluent, acidification, and "regulated stream" effect in this reach of the river.
