The cases of poisoning resulting from the use of natural gas fuel are caused by carbon monoxide contained in the gas itself or produced during gas burning. In public utilities it regards mainly natural gas in supply system and coke-oven gas as well as their combinations with other gases.
Apart from noxious substances, exhaust gases also contain gases which cause the so-called greenhouse effect. The increased emission of greenhouse gases is caused by accelerated population and economic growth, industrial development, transport and animal farming. The problem is getting out of hand and needs a remedy. Required by international agreements on, amongst others, transport put in place a framework for limiting the greenhouse gas emissions. The author presents in detail issues connected with greenhouse gas emissions from internal combustion engines.
