The experimental material consisted of two F₃ populations obtained in consequence of crossing three T. durum varieties differing with geographic origin. Among 10 traits analyzed the highest variability within population /W = 34.9-51.7%/ has been found for general and productive tillering, number of grains per plant and weight of grains from the main ear. On the other hand, the lowest variability coefficient /W = 11.7-14,7%/ has been obtained for such an important trait, as the plant height. Mean values of the traits studied for hybrid populations were, on the whole, approximate or formed in an indirect way. Still advantageous transgressions occurred in both combinations, particularly concerning such important traits, as plant height, weight of grains per main ear and per plant and 1000 grain weight. Most traits analyzed were positively correlated, however, at a lack of significant interrelation of the pair of traits: 1000 grain weight - number of grains per plant.
