Over the past two decades customer relationship management has emerged as a key domain in marketing research and practice. In this context customer relationship portfolio thinking has become highly topical. The customer portfolio analysis, as a management tool, enables the company taking proper decisions about the kind of relationships that should be created by the firm. Because firms have only limited amount of resources to use on their customers, it does not seem rational to treat and develop all relationships in the same way. Instead firms should differentiate the allocation in relation to the value of relationship. This way they can assure long-term performance and lasting competitive advantage. The main aim of the present article is to shed light on the concept of customer relationships portfolio analysis – its importance and dimensions stated in the literature. The author intended to broaden the current understanding of customer portfolio analysis.
The paper presents original data concerning one aspect of the machinability of special, wood particle boards bonded with waste thermoplastics. The study focused on the measurement of drilling torque and thrust force. The classic ideaof machinability indexes was used. The experimental plastic particle boards (with a nominal density of 650 kg/m3) were made of industrial grade core-layer pine wood particles and three different waste thermoplastics: polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene. Three different proportions of plastic contents were used: 30,50 and 70%. The machinability of the boards was tested in relation to commercially--produced materials: standard medium-density fibreboard (MDF) and standard particle board (with nominal densities: 750 and 650 kg/m3, respectively). Data presented in the paper suggest that the machinability of wood particle boards bonded with waste thermoplastics, especially waste polyethylene, is particularly good, not only in relation to standard particle boards, but even in relation to standard MDF.
Geographic Information Systems were classified as one of the most important technological „inventions” of the 20th century for geography. GIS, as the content of lectures, and later as a university subject, was introduced at Polish universities and colleges relatively late - only at the beginning of the 1990s. At first, it was an extension of the content scope discussed within the framework of cartography and topography, and only later - as independent lectures and practical classes. An excellent supplement to the content of lectures and practical workshops, as well as an indication of proper students' attitudes towards geoinformation is the International GIS Day organized every year in November for more than 10 years in Poland and worldwide. The objective of this event is to popularize the knowledge about geoinformation systems and their broad applications. The first celebration of this day took place on the 18th of November 1999 in several countries at the same time, and the proposed theme - 'application of GIS is limited only by the imagination of people who use it' - remains valid until now. Since the first shows, one can observe an increasing number of countries and academic, institutional and commercial centres introducing the modern geography to all who are interested in it through this open and interesting form. The research aimed at analysing the previous celebrations of the GIS Day in Poland (2000-2010), as well as making an attempt to determine the significance of this form of sharing the knowledge and skills in geographic education.
The aim of this research was to present the land cover structure and landscape diversity in the West Polesie Biosphere Reserve. The land cover classification was performed using Object Based Image Analysis in Trimble eCognition Developer 8 software. The retrospective land cover changes analysis in 3 lake catchments (Kleszczów, Moszne, Białe Włodawskie Lakes)was performed on the basis of archival aerial photos taken in 1952, 1971, 1984, 1992, 2007 and one satellite scene from 2003 (IKONOS).On the basis of land cover map structure, Shannon diversity index was estimated with the moving window approach enabled in Fragstats software. The conducted research has shown that the land cover structure of the West Polesie Biosphere Reserve is diverse and can be simply described by selected landscape metrics. The highest level of land cover diversity, as showed by Shannon Diversity Index, was identified in the western part of the West Polesie Biosphere Reserve, which is closely related to the agricultural character of land cover structure in those regions. The examples of three regional retrospective land cover analyses demonstrated that the character of land cover structure has changed dramatically over the last 40 years.
The paper includes the results of measurements of timber logs sorting by a modern, equipped with the newest measurement and steering systems line for automatic pretreatment of timber materials. The examined research was made in one of sawmills of Pomeranian Voivodeship.
In this paper investigations on the application of XRF method with the helium system for liquid analysis and for the determination of the composition of saline mine water have been presented. Applied procedure allows determination of various elements in broad concentration range of analysed elements (g/dm3- mg/dm3).
