The situation in the residential sector in Sweden is considered very good, and highly developed housing policy is widely cited as a model. The Swedish Commission for Housing has developed the principles for construction of new residential districts years ago. They have been complied with up till now and led to developing the environment friendly to man. The success of the policy depends on parallel construction of new housing districts and provision of technical and social infrastructure, protecting natural and cultural environment. The author discusses this problem using districts built in Stockholm area as an example.
