Oddzielnie dla każdego gatunku ziół założono doświadczenie poletkowe metodą bloków losowych. Czynnikiem doświadczalnym były trzy rodzaje oprysku dolistnego roślin kontrola (woda destylowana) oraz jednorazowy i dwukrotny oprysk preparatem „Multivit plus" o stężeniu 0,1%. W czterech fazach rozwojowych oznaczano akumulację suchej masy w fazie szybkiego wzrostu I, w fazie szybkiego wzrostu II, w początku kwitnienia (dla szałwii początku wzrostu liści), w pełni kwitnienia (dla szałwii w pełni wzrostu liści). W ostatniej z wymienionych faz oznaczono koncentrację olejku eterycznego. Na podstawie analizy wariancji wykazano, iż oprysk kontrolny miał istotny wpływ na plon suchej masy. Natomiast zawartość olejków eterycznych była najbardziej uzależniona od dwukrotnego oprysku preparatem „Multivit plus" (różnice statystycznie istotne).
Herbs contain many biologically active natural substances and their properties have made it possible for people to use herbs in cooking and medicine for centuries. The use of herbal mixtures can prevent the illnesses, regenerate the body, regulate intestinal flora, strengthen the nervous, respiratory, digestive and circulatory systems. The objective of the study is the presentation of selected species of medicinal plants which are important to human body. Valuable, healthy properties of herbs result from the contained within them biologically active compounds such as glycosides, flavonoids, alkaloids, essential oils, tannins, bitterness, locks, pectin, minerals and vitamins. Properly matched herbs are natural and safe agents for treatment of many illnesses. Herbal preparations are prepared from fresh or dried, suitably comminuted plants and can be used internally and externally. They help to maintain good health and generally strengthen the body. Herbs are not only used in herbal medicine, but also in the food, cosmetic and perfumery industries. Herbal medicine is an effective method to take care of health by preventing illnesses and their treatment. Herbs have antibacterial properties, reduce the risk of cardio-vascular diseases and cancer, they can reduce the level of cholesterol in the blood and provide support to the respiratory and digestive systems. The proper selection of herbs and method of they consume is critical, because some of them have toxic properties, and various kinds of illnesses or specified physiological states constitute contraindications to their use.
Our effort in the research and breeding the chamomile was aimed at increasing the essential oil amounts with emphasis being put on both the content and the stability of effective components. The breeding of diploid variety Bona (Kosice-3) and tetraploid variety Goral (Kosice-2) was realized within 1975-1990. The plants of diploid variety have the higher content of essential oil with decisive portion of (-)-a-bisaboloL Tetraploid variety Goral has sufficiently high content of essential oil in the dry flower anthodia. Dominant essential oil components are (-)-a-bisabolol and chamazulene. These new improved varieties with their parameters are better that diploid variety Bohemia that was acknowledged chamomile variety in Czecho-Slovakia since 1952. Mainly in connection with large-scale chamomile cultivation and production, the effects of mineral nutrition, irrigation, pesticide application, various types of growth regulators and the mechanisms of population dynamics at qualitative-quantitative characteristics of essential oil have been studied more intensively in Slovakia. The contribution is aimed at the presentation of information from these experiments.
Through o-hydroxycinnamic acids, the biosynthesis of coumarins is connected with aromatic amino acid metabolism and nitrogen uptake. Therefore the quantitative changes in levels of some free amino acids and coumarins (herniarin and its glucosidic precursors (Z)- and (Ej-2-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy- 4-methoxycinnamic acids; umbelliferone) in the leaf rosettes of chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla L.) subjected to nitrogen deficiency were studied. Nitrogen content decreased in the leaf rosettes and in the roots of N-deficient plants during the course of the experi ment, but these plants produced significantly higher root biomass. Among secondary metabolites, the sum of 2-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy-4-methoxycinnamic acids increased sharply, herniarin increased slowly and the content of umbelliferone was low in N-deficient plants. We have concluded that nitrogen deficiency is not an inducing factor for stress accumulation of herniarin and umbelliferone. A decrease in levels of all detected amino acids, besides histidine, was found. Within aromatic amino acids, tyrosine was the most abundant. The content of free phenylalanine was significantly lower in both, control and N-deficient plants when compared to the content of tyrosine. In this view, the increase of herniarin glucosidic precursors is apparently due to enhancing phenylalanine ammonialyase activity under nitrogen deficiency and nitrogen-free carbon skeletons are shunted in to the phenylpropanoid metabolism, including biosynthesis of (Z)- and (E)-2-β-D-glucopyranosyloxy-4-methoxycinnamic acids.
Zioła są znane od wieków, podobnie jak ich korzystny wpływ na organizm ludzki. Obecnie na rynku pojawia się wiele leków i preparatów roślinnych, które są wykorzystywane także w stomatologii. Jama ustna jest to początkowy odcinek przewodu pokarmowego człowieka, gdzie następuje wstępna, mechaniczna obróbka pokarmu i przygotowanie go do dalszego trawienia. W schorzeniach jamy ustnej zastosowanie mają przede wszystkim zioła o właściwościach ściągających, przeciwzapalnych i przeciwbakteryjnych, takie jak: szałwia lekarska, tymianek pospolity, mięta pieprzowa, rumianek pospolity i inne. Stosowanie fitoterapii w różnych schorzeniach jamy ustnej jest udowodnione naukowo. Zioła działają w sposób delikatny, ale skuteczny, w związku z czym świetnie sprawdzają się jako środki profilaktyczne.
