The aim of this paper is to present a conception of optimization of furniture technology that can be performed at design stage. The proposed solution allow for assessment and optimization of machining cost of a design alternative during design process. Moreover, it is possible to perform simulations of production flow to check how the introduction of new products affects the performance of the whole production system.
The aim of this paper is to present a conception of fuzzy logic based expert system for assessment of bankruptcy threat of furniture companies. The proposed solution employs both financial and non-financial sector specific factors. The work focuses on the selection of input data and the fuzzification process. For the purpose of fuzzification qualitative factors are classified as statistical factors, share-related factors and seasonality factor. Authors also propose a solution for incorporation of data from surveys conducted among professional expert or customers in fuzzy model.
The paper describes the method of final and inter-operational production control of furniture products, which is based on digital image analysis. The described techniques can be applied to support systems of quality assurance based on total quality management (TQM) systems and the ISO 9000/2000 standard.
The objective of this research project was to elaborate a mathematical model of a 2D angle connection with a two-dowel joint. Empirical investigations were conducted, which consisted of bending of joints and simultaneous observations of displacements by means of a digital image analysis. The employed method of finite elements allowed determining displacements and distribution of stresses inside the joint.
Adaptive design of an office reception desk. The aim of this paper was to develop an adaptive design of an office reception desk using parametric CAD software. The assumed scope of the parameterization allows for the adjustment of the designed reception desk both to the anthropometric properties of the user as well as to the dimensions of the room. This was, among others, achieved by the introduction of the parameter that represents the target centile of population.
Current trends to improve the quality and reliability of manufactured finished products cause that more and more attention is paid to the optimisation of rigidity-strength dimensioning of furniture elements constructional nodes. The objective of this study was to estimate the effectiveness of static optimisation methods determining the minimum of material volume in time function and sampling number. Moreover, the performed investigations aimed at establishing minimal dimensions of component elements of the construction at maximum strength parameters. The experiments carried out revealed that static optimisation of the construction of the chair with the aid of the Monte-Carlo method integrated with the FEM environment allowed to reduce material consumption to 53% of the initial volume within 17 seconds of work of the application. A sub-optimal solution, sufficient for engineering practice, is reached, on average, in time 18 times shorter than that reached using the random walk method.
The objective of this study was to determine the impact of joint rigidity on results of skeleton furniture construction optimisation expressed by the function of minimum material volume. The performed experiments proved that joint rigidity exerts a significant effect on optimisation results both with regard to the difference of individual dimensions of element cross-sections and total construction volume. Gradient optimisation allowed reducing the volume of skeleton constructions by 72 – 76% of their initial volume within the time of less than 1.4 hours.
Influence of some technical and technological factors on the productivity of woodworking stations with CNC machines. In this analysis of the possibility of the improvement of the course of manufacturing processes on woodworking stations with CNC machines was done. The improvement of their productivity is related to the rationalization of their utilization and with the proper planning of productive assignments.
