W latach 1999-2002 przeprowadzono badania ankietowe dotyczące tworze­nia i funkcjonowania ogrodów biblijnych w Europie Zachodniej, USA i Izraelu. W 2002 odbyto podróż do Hamburga i Elgin, aby dokonać oceny wizualnej obiektów. Podobnemu celowi służył dwutygodniowy wyjazd do Izraela w 2004 roku. W niniejszej pracy przedstawiono wykaz gatunków roślin posadzonych w ogrodach biblijnych, częstotliwość ich występowania oraz wykorzystania w ogrodach substytutów gatunków „biblijnych". W pracy opisano również gatunki roślin uprawianych w ogrodach, niemających bezpośredniego odniesienia do Biblii, ale przez tradycję związanych ze sferą religijną chrześcijan. W pracy wyko­rzystano wyniki analizy dwunastu z nadesłanych ankiet.

In the years 1999-2002 the survey was conducted concerning the founda­tion and functioning of Biblical gardens in Western Europe, the USA and in Israel. In 2002 a visit was made to Hamburg and Elgin in order to verify the findings of the survey. Similarly, the two-week stay in Israel served the same purpose. The following paper includes the list of plant species grown in Biblical Gardens, furthermore it describes the occurrence of these plants as well as the application of native species in order to substitute for species from Asia Minor. The paper also discusses the garden plant species which, although not directly mentioned in the Bible, are traditionally connected with religious aspects of Christianity. The findings of 12 submitted surveys are analyzed in the paper.
