In 2009 Hainesia lythri was isolated on 2 strawberry plantations in Wielkopolska. It caused tan brown rot on strawberry fruits. First time this pathogen was detected in Poland in 2001 - also in Wielkopolska region. Affected fruits were smaller and had visible, dry, tan-brown spots. Beige cultures of H. lythri were isolated from collected diseased strawberries. After about 3 week cultivation on PDA the fungi produced numerous canoe-shaped conidia of the size 7-8 x 1.5-2 µm. Due to the potential threat to more plantations Hainesia lythri requires further studies in the following years.
