Tracą one swoją historyczną formę i znaczenie w zachowaniu i tworzeniu tożsamości historycznego krajobrazu. Prawdopodobnie najbardziej skutecznym sposobem zachowania starych drzew jest bilans dendrologiczny, dzięki któremu można stworzyć mapy dendrologiczne i programy opieki nad starymi drzewami. Na starym ewangelickim cmentarzu w Mrągowie możemy znaleźć następujące gatunki drzew: dominującym, gatunkiem jest Tilia cordata (178 drzew), następnie Acer platanoides (137 drzew), Fraxinus excelsior (57 drzew), Betula pendula (27), Thuja occidentalis (20), Corylus avellana (12), Aesculus hippocastanum (9), Crataegus monogyna (8), Acer pseudoplatanus (7), Euonymus europaeus (2), Picea abies (2), Sambucus nigra (2), Acer negundo (1), Populus nigra (1), Quercus robur (1). Najistotniejszym działaniem powinno być usunięcie suchego drewna. Strzyżenie drzew powinno być przeprowadzone, aby utrzymać bezpieczeństwo w obszarze miejskim.

The old evangelical cemetery in Mrągowo has existed since the 19th century. It is one of many deserted cemeteries in the Mazurian Lake District. Like all non-Catholic cemeteries in Mazuria, it remained neglected for various social and historical reasons. The good health and condition of the area can only continue as long as there is someone to take care of it. The current state of this necropolis is very bad. Ancient trees share the fate of ancient tombs. They are losing their historie forms as well as their role in the preservation and creation of the identity of the region landscape. Probably the most effective way to save old trees is through dendrology stocktaking, through which dendrology maps and guidelines of tree care operations can be constructed. The composition of the trees of the old evangelical cemetery in Mrągowo is as follows: there is a predominance of Tilia cordata (178 trees), followed by Acer platanoides (137 trees), Fraxinus excelsior (57 trees), Betula pendula (27 trees), Thuja occidentalis (20 trees), Corylus avellana (12 trees), Aesculus hippocastanum (9 trees), Crataegus monogyna (8 trees), Acer pseudoplatanus (7 trees), Euonymus europaeus (2 trees), Picea abies (2 trees), Sambucus nigra (2 trees), Acer negundo (1 tree), Populus nigra (1 tree), Quercus robur (1 tree). It is necessary to mention the most impressive tree - Acer platanoides (inventory number 164) - that is 410 cm in circumference. The main tree care operation is to remove deadwood. This pruning is necessary to maintain the safety of the urban area.
