Zgodnie z Ramową Dyrektywą Wodną (RDW) i Rozporządzeniem Ministra Środowiska z dnia 20 sierpnia 2008 r. (Dz.U. Nr 162 poz.

According to Water Framework Directive and the ordinance of the Ministry of Environment of 20 August, 2008 (Dziennik Ustaw, No. 162, item 1008) the ecological state of homogenous water body for natural flows shall be classified upon the results of physicochemical, biological and hydromorphological assessments. Hydromorphological assessment is a part of biological assessment of water flows. Flowing waters that were recognized to have ecological state lower than average due to poor hydromorphological features are classified as the ones of bad quality. Therefore it is very important to identify hydromorphological attributes that could be transferred to Polish conditions. There were a lot of different hydromorphological assessment methods developed in the EU countries. These methods refer to the WFD requirements, however, their differ in details. An attempt to unify the applied methods and develope a comparable standard methodology that will be in compliance with the WFD requirements was performed by the European Committee for Standardization CEN. The paper describes preliminary results of the identification from a set of methods applied in the EU countries as well as from the field research the hydromorphological attributes that can be implemented in Poland. The identification of the assessment methods was done with a reference to three zones: riverbed, riparian zone, river-side zone. Additionally a hierarchy was assigned to each of the selected attributes in order to recognize its weight in the final assessment of the hydromorphological state of homogenous water bodies.
