The development of aphids is largely dependent on the temperature range. Temperature influences aphids both directly and indirectly through host plants. An example of a direct influence of temperature on aphid development is an increasing Rhopalosiphum padi L. population. An indirect influence of temperature on aphids is presented on the example of aestivation of Periphyllus aceris (L). The observation on this specific summer diapause development were conducted in different temperature conditions, in different localizations: in London, Poznań and Białowieża. The research results showed that a higher temperature resulted in the increase in aestivating aphid colonies on maples (Acer campestris) through a faster host plant development.
