Badania prowadzono w latach 1997-2000 w kolekcji śliw założonej w Dąbrowicach w Sadzie Doświadczalnym Instytutu Sadownictwa i Kwiaciarstwa. Oceniano 81 odmian śliw rozmnożonych na siewkach ałyczy, posadzonych w latach 1989-1991 w rozstawie 5 x 4 m na glebie średniej klasy, bez nawadniania. Dla wszystkich odmian określano średnią masę owoców oraz jej zróżnicowanie w kolejnych latach badań. Oceniane odmiany w zależności od wielkości owoców podzielono na: odmiany o owocach bardzo małych (do 15,0 g), małych (20,1-30,0 g), średnich (35,1-45,0 g), dużych (50,1-60,0 g) i bardzo dużych (powyżej 65,0 g). Dodatkowo podzielono je na odmiany o owocach słabo, średnio i silnie zróżnicowanych pod względem wielkości. Z ocenianych śliw owoce najmniejsze (15-20 g) posiadały odmiany: Eruni, Węgierka Zwykła i Węgierka Szymańskiego, a największe: Seneca, Ziełtaja Afazka, Empress. Największe zróżnicowanie wielkości owoców w ciągu 4 lat badań stwierdzono u odmian: Jubileum, Seredica, Bluebell, Węgierka z Ersinger, Valor, Cacańska Najbolja, Victory, Bluefre i Empress, natomiast najmniejsze u odmian: Elena, Cacańska Lepotica, Węgierka Zwykła, Hanita i Ontario.

Studies were carried out in the plum collection of the Experimental Orchard at Dąbrowice belonging to the Institute of Pomology and Floriculture in Skierniewice, Poland. Observations were conducted in the years 1997-2000. Eighty one plum cultivars were evaluated. Plum trees were planted in 1989-1991, at the density of 5.0 x 4.0 m, on the medium-rich soil, without irrigation. They were grafted on Myrobalan seedlings (Prunus divaricata). The average fruit weight of tested cultivars and their differentiation were studied in all years of evaluation. In regard to fruit size the evaluated plum cultivars were classified: 1 - very small (up 15.0 g), 3 - small (20.1-30.0 g), 5 - medium (35.1-45.0 g), 7 - large (50.1-60.0 g) and 9 - very large (over 65.0 g). In addition, these cultivars were divided into three groups: slightly differentiated, medium and strongly differentiated. Out of the evaluated cultivars of plums, the smallest fruits (15-20 g) had Eruni, Common Prun and Szymański Common Prune. The biggest fruits were produced by the following cultivars: Seneca, Ziełtaja Afazka and Empress. The largest differentiation of fruit size was noted in cultivars Jubileum, Seredica, Blubell, Węgierka z Ersinger (Ersinger Frühzwetschke), Valor, Cacańska Najbolja, Victory, Bluefre and Empress during four years of studies. The smallest fruit size differentiation were recorded for cultivars Elena, Cacańska Lepotica, Węgierka Zwykła, Hanita and Ontario.
