Najlepszy zidentyfikowany szczep (Clostridium butyricum 1.1.) namnażano w hodowli bioreaktorowej.

The production of biodiesel generates large quantities of a waste product, namely a raw glycerol. The microbial production of 1,3-propanediol from raw glycerol is beneficial from both an economic and environmental perspective. The aim of this study was to screen and test cultures of bacteria of the genus Clostridium which can convert glycerol to 1,3-propanediol. A total of 45 strains were isolated and a vast majority of them turned out to be good producers of 1,3-propanediol. The strains were tested on different media which allowed to determine the optimal medium that ensures high efficiency of synthesis of 1,3-propanediol. Particular attention was paid to the type of glycerol used (pure and crude glycerol). In addition, the best identified strain (Clostridium butyricum 1.1.) was analyzed in submerged culture on the bioreactor scale.
