Badano wpływ doustnego 8 tyg. narażenia szczurów na kadm 5 i 50 mg/dm3, wprowadzonego do ustroju w postaci wodnych roztworów CdCl2, na wybrane wskaźniki gospodarki wapniowej. Stwierdzono wzrost wydalania wapnia z moczem oraz obniżenie jego stężenia w surowicy, kości udowej i nerce. Poziom tego pierwiastka w wątrobie i śledzionie nie uległ zmianie.

Effects of cadmium on calcium metabolism were invetstigated in rats. Twenty-four male Wistar rats, divided into three groups, received 5 or 50 ppm Cd as CdCl2 in deionized drinking water (test groups) or drinking water only (control group) for 8 weeks. Calcium concentrations in serum, femur and kidney of Cd-treated rats were decreased, while in liver and spleen the concentrations were the same as in the controls. Cd-treated rats excreted more calcium in urine than the controls. These results show that oral cadmium exposure disturbs calcium metabolism.
